Fallon released without charge in conspiracy probe
Sixteen people, including the champion jockey Keiren Fallon, who were arrested by City of London Police as part of a conspiracy to defraud probe have been released without charge.
The detainees, who were questioned by police yesterday afternoon, have been bailed to appear at a London Police Station in two months time.
In swoops involving around 130 officers, the City of London Police, with assistance from Suffolk, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire Police, executed 19 search warrants.
The investigating officers seized a large amount of documentation and computer records which will now be brought to the City for continuing investigation and analysis.
City of London Police arrested eight people from South Yorkshire, of these, four men from Barnsley, two men and one woman from Sheffield and one man from Doncaster.
The two people arrested in Hertfordshire are men from Stevenage, the three arrested in North Yorkshire are one man from Minskip and two men from Leyburn. The three arrests in Suffolk are men from Newmarket.
City of London Police Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Wilmott, the officer in charge of the operation, said: "We now embark on the long haul of analysing all the additional information we have gathered today. The computer evidence alone will require a significant investment in time and resources."
