A young woman and her two children have died after their car plunged into a river in Essex, last night.
Kelly Toye, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while the two children, Courtney Clark, six and Brandon Clifton, three, died later in hospital. Hospital staff had tried to revive the children, but they were pronounced dead over three hours after they were found.
The accident, which occurred at the River Lea on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex, followed reports of a domestic dispute, police said.
Essex police confirmed that they were called to an incident at a house in the village of Broxbourne in Hertfordshire around 7pm, just half an hour before the crash occurred.
An eyewitness reported seeing the car in which Ms Toye and her children were in travelling at speed before the accident occurred.
