Beckham nanny offers to stay silent
The former nanny of David and Victoria Beckham has agreed not to reveal any more information about the celebrity couple, it has been reported.
The Beckhams had launched legal proceedings to seek an injunction preventing 27-year-old Abbie Gibson from making further revelations about their private life, after she gave an interview to the ‘News of the World’, which contained allegations that the couple’s marriage was in trouble.
The Beckhams had claimed that Ms Gibson was in breach of a confidentiality agreement, which required her to not reveal details about the couple’s private life.
At a hearing at the High Court, Hugh Tomlinson QC, representing the Beckhams who were not present at the hearing, said that an open letter received from Ms Gibson “more or less” covered the confidentiality aspects of the injunctions sought.
Ms Gibson also agreed to “hold” the £125,000 she was paid for the interview.
The interview was published in last Sunday’s edition of the paper, after the Beckhams failed to secure a High Court injunction banning publication of the story on Saturday night. The judge ruled in favour of the News of the World, who had argued that the story was in the public interest.
David Beckham has reportedly described Ms Gibson’s revelations as “amazing” and “unbelievable” and said that his family are “very happy” in Madrid.
It has also been reported that the couple will take further legal action against the New of the World. Legal proceedings were brought against the newspaper last year, following the publication of claims that the Real Madrid and England football star had an affair.
