Former Nanny Apologises To Beckhams
David and Victoria Beckham have received a High Court apology from their former nanny.
A judge in London heard that Abbie Gibson had now agreed to give "permanent undertakings of confidentiality" to the celebrity couple after she disclosed private and confidential information about them, following her resignation.
Their solicitor, Gerrard Tyrell, told Mr Justice Eady: "Ms Gibson has also agreed to the withdrawal of her claim for constructive dismissal that she made against the claimants which was issued in the Employment Tribunal in August 2005."
Mr Tyrell added that Ms Gibson "has conditionally apologised to David and Victoria Beckham and their family for breaching her duties of confidence".
The court proceedings against the former nanny followed the publication of a newspaper article in April 2005.
Mr Tyrell said after she resigned, after working as nanny to the Beckhams children between May 2003 and March 2005, she gave an interview to the News of the World.
In the article which was captioned "Beckhams behind closed doors", she disclosed private and confidential information about the Beckhams and their family.
The News of the World used this information as the basis for the article published on April 24, 2005.
Mr Tyrell said Ms Gibson "now accepts that she should not have breached her duties of confidence to David and Victoria Beckham and their children to the News of the World".
