Brutal murderer sentenced to life
A former binman who killed his girlfriend, her twin sister and an elderly couple has been jailed for life.
Mark Hobson, 35, appeared at Leeds Crown Court a month after he admitted carrying out the four murders.
Sentencing Hobson, the Judge said: “The damage you have done is incalculable. The enormity of what you have done is beyond words.”
Hobson beat his 27-year-old girlfriend Claire Sanderson to death with a hammer in Camblesforth, North Yorkshire, in July last year.
He lured her sister Diane to his flat and killed her a week later.
Hobson then murdered James Britton, 80, and his wife Joan, 82, at their home in the north of York. He beat them with a walking stick before stabbing them both to death.
Hobson was caught a week after the bodies were found following a massive police manhunt.
The court heard that a list of other names scribbled in Hobson's handwriting, believed to be those of potential victims, had been found during a search.
