Ex-boyfriend arrested in Hayley murder investigation
The main suspect in the Hayley Richards murder investigation has been arrested, Wiltshire police have announced.
Hugo Quintas, Hayley’s former boyfriend, was arrested in the Basque region of Spain this morning by local police officers. He is currently being held at a police station in Northern Spain.
Wiltshire police said that they had received verbal confirmation of his arrest and were now awaiting written confirmation.
Hayley, who was three months pregnant, was found dead at her home in Trowbridge on June 11. The 23-year-old had had her throat cut.
Mr Quintas, also 23, was believed to have flown home to his native Portugal on the day Hayley’s body was discovered.
A man has already been charged in connection with Hayley’s death. Joaquim Sergio Da Cunha, 29, a Portuguese man who shared a house with Mr Quintas, appeared in court last week charged with perverting the course of justice. He was remanded in custody to appear at Swindon Crown Court on June 24.
Police confirmed that Detective Superintendent Mike Veale had visited Hayley’s family to inform them of the news.
