Camberwell cyclist stabbed to death
A 39-year-old cyclist has been stabbed to death with what is thought to have been a machete near a shopping centre in south-east London.
The man, named as Mark Biggs from the Peabody Estate area, was apparently attacked as he rode past a McDonald's in Denmark Hill on Monday evening.
Police investigating the case have appealed for information and said that no motive for the attack had been identified. Residents and businesses in the area have been asked to check their property for the murder weapon, which was reported to be an edged blade between 12 and 18 inches long, is believed to be similar to a machete.
Witnesses described how that the victim had lain on the ground trembling after the attack.
A man was spotted apparently fleeing the scene on foot via Butterfly Walk and through a nearby shopping precinct.
Police described the suspect as aged around 30, of slim build, was black, though with light skin, and was wearing a yellow t-shirt, jeans and a baseball cap.
