Masked Men With Axes Stage Daylight Raid Of Glasgow Arcade
Police have appealed for information after four masked men, armed with axes, staged a daylight smash-and-grab robbery in Glasgow's Argyll Arcade.
The four men entered the arcade wearing masks and carrying axes, they set off a smoke bomb before trying to smash shop windows at about 12:15 on Tuesday.
The robbers only managed to smash the window of one shop, Rox a high-end jewellers, but are said to have taken 18 watches worth an estimated £250,000.
The had also attacked Mappin and Webb, Laing and Lewis Grant but were unable to smash the shops windows.
Mobile phone footage of the daylight raid show the men running from the arcade onto Buchana Street.
The suspects are described as approximately 5ft 8in tall and all of slim build.
A white Volkswagen Golf, believed to have been used by the thieves, was recovered at St James Road, in the city's Townhead area. Police are trying to establish if the car was used in the getaway.
Police have appeal for witnesses to the raid and for anyone with any information to contact them on 101.

Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Arrests After Couple Cuffed In Robbery
Five men have been arrested after a husband and wife were handcuffed and robbed at their home in Salford last night. Police were called to Garner Drive, Salford just after 9.20pm on Monday. They found a man aged 37 with his 34-year-old wife left handcuffed after their home had been robbed.

Two Men Wanted Following Armed Robbery
Birmingham Police are searching for two men who are wanted following the armed robbery of a shop in Winson Green. Two men rushed into the premises on Dudley Road shortly after 2am. They demanded money, threatening staff with a machete. It is understood the men fled with the shop's takings, cigarettes and a bottle of vodka.
