Two Thai men held over tourist's murder
Two Thai fishermen have been linked to the rape and murder of British tourist Katherine Horton via DNA, local police said.
The two men, Bualoy Kotsith, 23, and Vichai Suankhaoyai, 24, confessed to the attack on the 21-year-old Cardiff student on New Year's Day.
Police said that Mr Kotsith admitted raping Miss Horton, while Mr Suankhaoyai confessed to being an accomplice to her murder.
The men were arrested at a pier in Koh Samui early this morning and have been flown to Bangkok.
Speaking to reporters at police headquarters in Bangkok, Police Major Asawin Khawanmuang, said: "The suspects have admitted to raping and killing the British tourist, but we have brought them to Bangkok for DNA testing to be sure."
The men are expected to be formally charged with rape and murder within the next few days.
Miss Horton, who was studying psychology at Reading University, had been on a fortnight's holiday with a friend in Thailand. She was last seen on the evening of New Year's Day, walking along the beach talking to her mother on her mobile phone.
Her body was found in the sea less than 12 hours later. A post-mortem found that she had been beaten, raped and dragged into the sea.
