Two held over £166 million drugs haul
Two men have been arrested in Merseyside following the seizure of 1.66 tonnes of cocaine with a street value of £166 million.
The two men, aged 33 and 34, were arrested during early morning raids in Garston.
Searches are continuing at the property and a quantity of ammunition has been recovered so far.
The arrests are part of a long-running investigation involving Customs and Excise and the Spanish and Dutch authorities.
It is believed that the drugs were being brought into Britain via Holland.
Commenting on the arrests, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wadmore from Merseyside Police said: "The arrests today are the culmination of an extensive investigation into the supply of Class A drugs on Merseyside."

Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids
Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Brixton Drug Gang Get Long Sentences
A gang of criminals who ran a lucrative drug dealing network from a car tyre shop in Brixton were sentenced last week to a total of 81 years in prison. Nine men, who were previously convicted of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, appeared at Kingston Crown Court today to hear their sentences.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a police officer was struck and killed on Monday during a car pursuit in Merseyside. Constable Dave Philips, 34, died from internal injuries after being hit by a pick-up vehicle that mounted a central reservation in Wallasey on Monday.

Men bailed over Merseyside van shooting
Three men arrested in connection with the murder of a man shot dead in his van in Merseyside last year have been released on bail. The men, aged 22, 23 and 32 and all from Bootle, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday. Stephen Lloyd, 25, was shot dead as he sat in his van in Redfern Street in Bootle just after 5pm on July 13 last year.
