Five deny London bomb plot charges
Five men have denied charges over the alleged attempts to carry out bomb attacks on the London transport network last July.
Ibrahim Muktar Said, 27, Ramzi Mohammed, 23, Yassin Omar, 24, and Hussain Osman, 27, all from London, denied charges of conspiracy to murder and cause explosions.
The charges facing Mr Mohammed, Mr Omar and Mr Osman related to alleged failed attempts to bomb Tube trains, while Mr Said was charged in connection with an alleged bombing attempt on a London bus.
Manfo Asiedu, 32, also from London, was not charged with conspiracy to murder, but was charged in relation to the discovery of a device near Wormwood Scrubs prison in London on July 23. He also denied the charge.
The five men, who appeared in court via video link, were remanded in custody. Their trial is due to begin in October.
A sixth man, Adel Yahya, 23, from London, has also been charged with conpsiracy to cause explosions likely to endanger life. He did not enter a plea. He was also remanded in custody and is due to reappear in court in June.
Eleven other people are also due to appear in court, via video link, charged with assisting the alleged conspirators and failing to disclose information.

Man 'bit off and chewed' woman's tongue
A prostitute had part of her tongue bitten off by a man who acted like an "animal", a court was told today. The jury at Preston Crown Court was told that Andrew Humphris, 36, from Leyton, east London, bit off and chewed part of the prostitute's tongue during a series of attacks that took place over the course of one night last year.

GP Charged With Sexual Assault
GP, Imran Khalid Khan, has been charged with 12 counts of sexual assault, including seven relating to a girl under the age of 13. The charges relate to five alleged incidents in 2007 in Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds, and seven last year in Brandon.

Former NotW Journalist Charged Over Phone Hacking
A former News of the World journalist is to be charged over four alleged offences as part of the ongoing investigation into the phone hacking scandal. Dan Evans faces two counts of conspiring to intercept the voicemail of "well-known people and their associates", the Crown Prosecution Service has said. The charges date between 2003 and 2010.

A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Police shoot man during anti-terror raid
Police have shot a man during an anti-terrorism raid in east London. The 20-year-old man was shot during the raid at a property in Forestgate in the early hours of Friday morning. He was taken to the Royal London hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. He was later arrested in hospital.
