Boxer charged with dangerous driving
Boxer Amir Khan has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving, in relation to an incident which took place in March, police have confirmed.
The 19-year-old Olympic silver medallist was arrested on Saturday at a police station in his hometown of Bolton.
The arrest was in relation to an incident which took place in Bradshawgate in Bolton on March 2. Greater Manchester Police said that they had received a report that a car had hit a man. The man suffered a broken leg.
Mr Khan has appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court and has been released on bail to reappear in court at a later date.
He is due to fight Scotsman Colin Bain at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on July 8.

Five Men Arrested Under Terrorism Act
Five men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act following raids in Manchester and Bolton. The arrests took place in a co-ordinated operation starting at 4am this morning. Three addresses in Manchester and one in Bolton are currently being searched.

Investigation continues as armed officers shoot man dead
Investigations were continuing today following the killing of a 23-year old man by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in the Thornton Heath area of south London. According to police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, which took place at around 11.25am on Wednesday in Raymead Passage, London Road in Thornton Heath.

Man Bailed Over Manchester Murder
A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder after a disturbance in Manchester city centre has been bailed pending further inquiries. Zhen Asghar, 18, of Mallowdale Crescent, Bolton, suffered stab wounds at a flat near the Printworks on Monday 21 September 2009. He died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday 23 September.

Seven Arrested After Four Stabbed At Skatepark
North Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to a disturbance at a skate park in Wrexham last Friday. Police have arrested six adults and one youth in connection with the disturbance, during which four people suffered stab wounds. It is understood that no one was seriously injured.

CCTV Failing To Combat UK Crime
Heavy investment in closed circuit television (CCTV) has failed to have a significant impact on cutting crime, a leading senior police officer has said. Detective Chief Inspector Mike Neville who is head of the Met's Visual Images, Identifications and Detections Office (Viido) is quoted as saying the system is an "utter fiasco".
