Second inquiry to be held into Forest Gate raid
The Independent Police Complaints Commission will hold a second inquiry into the controversial anti-terror raid in Forest Gate, east London in June.
The raid took place at two adjoining properties in Forest Gate on June 2, after police received information suggesting there was evidence of a chemical bomb on the premises.
Two brothers - Abul Koyair, 20 and Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23 - were arrested and Mr Kahar was shot in the shoulder during the raid which involved more than 250 police officers.
Both men were later released without charge and the Metropolitan Police apologised for the "hurt" caused by the raid.
The IPCC is already conducting an inquiry into the shooting of Mr Kahar and the BBC reported that the second inquiry will focus on claims that neighbours in the adjoining house were also assaulted by police during the raid.
A statement from the IPCC said: "The IPCC can confirm that it has received a complaint from the occupants of number 48 Landsdown Road and is conducting an independent investigation in relation to this.
"This investigation is separate from the IPCC's investigation into the discharge of a police firearm during the raid at number 46 Lansdown Road, although it is being conducted by the same investigation team."
