Eurotunnel services suspended following smoke alert
The Channel Tunnel has been closed and Eurotunnel services suspended after a smoke alarm was set off.
According to reports, the alarm was triggered around 12:30pm British time.
Smoke was also reportedly seen coming from a train.
It was reported that more than 30 people were onboard the freight shuttle and they were all evacuated safely.
Eurotunnel said that it was hoped that services would resume later on Monday.

A group of leading surgeons and medical experts have called for a nationwide ban on smoking in public places, in a letter sent to the Times Newspaper. The UK’s medical Royal Colleges and their Faculties stated in the letter that "the time has come for legislation to make public places smoke free".

London Fire Brigade has urged people to check the smoke alarms in their homes, following a fire in a block of flats in Lewisham. A family of four were asleep in their flat when the smoke alarm alerted them to a fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Hundreds Evacuated From London Skyscraper After Fire Alert
Nearly 900 people have been evacuated from London skyscraper The Shard, the tallest in Western Europe, after smoke was discovered in the basement at 10:30. Seven fire engines and 50 firefighters were dispatched to the 1,004 ft-high building following reports of smoke at the London landmark.
