Man jailed for running over Pc
A man who rode his motorbike over a female police officer has been jailed for a minimum of four years.
Wayne Hewitt, 36, was jailed for deliberately riding his motorbike over Pc Liz Parsonage as she tried to arrest a man involved in a fight outside the Thomas Tripp pub in Lymington, Hampshire in January.
Pc Parsonage was badly injured in the incident and suffered, bruising and facial injuries, as well as requiring stitches in her hand.
She has been unable to return to work since the incident.
Hewitt was charged with dangerous driving and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He had denied the charges.
He was also disqualified from driving for six years.

PC Ian Dibell Posthumously Wins Bravery Award
A national police bravery award has been posthumously awarded to PC Ian Dibell (41), who was killed when he tackled a gunman in the street near his home. Mr Dibell died while trying to disarm Peter Reeve, who had opened fire on a couple in Clacton, Essex, in July last year.

Twenty-Five Injured In M4 Coach Crash
Around 25 people were injured when a coach crashed on the M4 near Newbury on Wednesday evening. The incident happened around 7pm, when the private hire coach came off the westbound carriageway, between junctions 14 and 15, and plunged around 30ft down an embankment.

A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

A man who attempted to kill his neighbours' cat in Hereford has been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison. Karl Dyke, 52, admitted trying to murder the Siamese cat in July. Michael and Tracey Lawrence saw Dyke dangling the cat from a rope in his shed. The cat was not injured in the incident.

An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of PC Dave Phillips. Phillips died in the early hours of Monday, 5 October, after he was struck by a stolen pick-up vehicle in Wallasey, Merseyside. The vehicle mounted a central reservation before it hit the officer.
