Motorist killed in train collision
A driver has been killed after his car was hit by a train on rail tracks in Yorkshire.
According to reports, the car left Moor Lane in Copmanthorpe, near York, at 8:55pm on Monday night, and crashed through a fence before ending up on the track.
The train, a Virgin service from Plymouth to Edinburgh, was partially derailed by the collision. None of the passengers were hurt.
British Transport Police, fire crews and the ambulance service attended the scene.
Passengers were taken by bus to York station following the collision.
The driver of the vehicle has not yet been named.
The collision has closed the East Coast Main Line between York and Leeds and North Yorkshire Police said that it was expected to be closed for some time.

Quad Bikers Die In Train Collision

The two men are thought to have been in their 20s. No passengers were on board the train, which was leaving Cardiff for service at Cheltenham.

A woman has died in hospital after falling on a route E3 bus on Chiswick High Road, just after 13:30 on Tuesday, 18 August. The 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 17:00.

Up To Four Suffer 'Life-Changing' Injuries In Troop Carrier Collision
More than 20 people have been injured, 4 or 5 seriously, in a collision involving three troop carriers on Salisbury Plain. Wiltshire Police were called to the accident at about 18:30 on Wednesday. The cause of the accident is being investigated but it is understood that 4 or 5 people have suffered "life-changing injuries".

The new move follows claims by former News of the World reporter Sean Hoare that he had been told by the paper's former editor Andy Coulson - now Communications Director for Downing Street - to intercept phone messages.
