Police appeal following businessman's abduction
Strathclyde Police have re-appealed for information following the alleged abduction of a businessman from his home in Scotland.
Javed Mukhtar, 58, was taken from his home in Shawmoss Road, Pollokshaws, around 11:30pm on September 29.
It is believed that three men were involved in the incident - two of whom entered Mr Mukhtar's home - before they made off in a white-coloured van.
A firearm was discharged at the scene, but no-one was injured.
The men who entered the house were described as around 6ft tall, both of athletic build.
Both are believed to be white and spoke with local accents.
The vehicle is believed to have made off in the direction of Haggs Road, before possibly heading onto the motorway. It has not been recovered and there has been no contact from either the men of Mr Mukhtar.
Both Strathclyde Police and Mr Mukhtar's family are concerned for his well-being, particularly because he suffers from Type 2 diabetes and had been observing the fast for Ramadan.
At the time of his abduction, he was wearing a white cotton shirt and trousers and was barefoot.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Detective Superintendent Willie Prendergast said: "We are desperately trying to ascertain a motive for this abduction. Mr Mukhtar was not known to the police - he was a hard-working businessman who enjoyed spending time with his family.
"All we ask is that Mr Mukhtar is returned safe and well to his family, and at the earliest opportunity."
Mr Mukhtar's son Rizwan Javed, 24, also appealed for information. He said: "Neither my mother, my sisters or my brothers have slept since this happened and our lives have been turned upside down.
"We just want our dad back, safe and well and I'm asking anyone who has information on his abduction to get in touch with the police. If the people who have taken my dad see this, we are begging them to release him and let him return to his family."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Govan police on: 0141 532 5516 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
