Britons feared dead in Paris fire
Three British women are feared to have been killed in a fire in an apartment block in Paris.
The women are believed to have been staying in the five-storey apartment building in Rue des Innocents in the city centre when the fire broke out early on Saturday morning.
Three bodies were discovered in the building and French police are trying to identify them.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that two of the women were from the Southampton area, but no details are available about the other woman.
Around 180 firefighters tackled the fire in the 300-year-old building.
The fire destroyed the top two floors of the building and also left several other people injured.
A spokesperson for the French Police said that the blaze, which took several hours to bring under control, was "a very tough fire and, very, very difficult to stop".
