Oxford Street partially closed after fire
Oxford Street in central London remains partially closed following a fire, due to fears that a building may collapse.
The blaze started just before 7pm on Thursday evening above the New Look store, next door to Marks & Spencer.
Firefighters tackled the blaze throughout the night and managed to stop it spreading to other buildings, but there are fears that the damaged building is now unsafe.
Metropolitan Police said that a cordon had been set up between Oxford Circus and Wells Street, which is likely to remain in place until the end of business on Friday, while work is carried out to make the building safe.
Other buildings in this area will also be inaccessible while the work takes place.
