Man arrested after missing teen is found
Police have arrested a 44-year-old man after a 14-year-old girl who went missing from Cumbria was found in Scotland.
The girl disappeared from her home in Cumbria last week. The search for her was extended to Scotland, following reports of a sighting, and the girl was found in Arbroath near Dundee on Tuesday.
Cumbria Police confirmed that the man was arrested in Arbroath on Tuesday night in connection with the girl's abduction.
A statement issued by police said: "She was found at the same time and she has been transported under police protection back to Cumbria to be reunited with her family."
The man is due to be questioned by Cumbria Police later on Wednesday.

Recovered Body Confirmed As Missing POlice Officer
Cumbria Police have confirmed that a body found on Tuesday was that of a missing police officer. Police searching for Detective Sergeant George Atkinson, recovered his body in the Cogra Moss area. Mr Atkinson was 46 years old from Springbank, Whitehaven. He was employed as a Detective Sergeant at Cumbria Constabulary, based in west Cumbria.

Funding For New Cumbria Bridge
Over £4.6m of Government funding has been made available to build a road bridge over the River Derwent in Cumbria. The new bridge will replace the bridges damaged and destroyed by last year’s flooding. The funding will cover material, design and construction costs and the new bridge is expected to be open by May 2010.

Increase In Knife Robberies, Statistics Show
The number of robberies involving knives rose by 18% between July and September last year, according to new figures released today. The Home Office statistics also showed that domestic burglaries rose by 4% during the same period, while fraud and forgery was up by 16%. Drug offences have also risen by 9%.

Hardendale Quarry Body Named
A body found near Hardendale Quarry has been named as 76-year-old Yvonne Mullen, from Crosby Ravensworth. Cumbria Police have said that Ms Mullen's body was discovered on the morning of Saturday, 19 September. Police said that there are no suspicious circumstances regarding her death and the Coroner has been informed.

Man Held In Cumbria Murder Probe
A man is being questioned on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in her home in Cumbria at the weekend. The body of 52-year-old Nicola Bisset was found by in her home in Rivington Park in Appleby on Saturday, after North Yorkshire Police received a tip-off. The cause of death is still unknown.
