Police hunt 'bike gang' behind London shooting
Police are continuing their search for a gang of youths responsible for the shooting of a 16-year-old youth in south London.
The teenager was found outside Cassell House in Stockwell in the early hours of Thursday morning by police officers who were called to the scene following reports that shots had been fired.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem revealed that he died from a single gunshot wound to the neck.
He had apparently been chased by a group of youths on bicycles prior to the attack.
Police said that they believed that between five and seven youths were involved in the attack and that two firearms were used.
According to reports, the youths were described as wearing black hooded tops and black bandanas to cover their faces.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that the killing was gang-related.
Police have appealed for information about the killing. Detective Inspector Geoff Whitehouse from Operation Trident - the Metropolitan Police unit which investigates gun crime in London's black community - said: "The suspects, who we now believe to have been carrying two firearms, then made off into the alleyway next to Packington House."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0208 247 4553 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
