Cancer Campaigner Jane Tomlinson Loses Cancer Fight

Cancer campaigner Jane Tomlinson has died from breast cancer, aged 43, following a seven-year battle against the disease.

The married mother-of-three, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer seven years ago, died at St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds on Monday night.

Mrs Tomlinson was told that she only had six months to live when she was diagnosed with terminal metastatic breast cancer in 2000. Since then, she spent her time raising money for charity by taking part in a gruelling series of fundraising challenges. These included the Great North Run, the London Marathon, the Ironman UK Triathlon and the London Triathlon. Last year, she completed her toughest challenge when she cycled 4,200 miles across the US.

Mrs Tomlinson raised £1.75 million for charity through her fundraising and was made CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June this year.

Jane's husband, Mike and children Suzanne, Rebecca and Steven, released a statement, which said that they were "heartbroken" at the loss, but felt "honoured to have been blessed with such a wonderful person."
