Three Men Killed In North Sea Ship Accident
Three men have been killed in an accident onboard a gas rig supply vessel in the North Sea.
The men - named as Finley MacFayden, 46, from Aberdeen; Robert O'Brien, 59, from Leven in Fife; Robert Ebertowski, 40, from Gydnia in Poland - were onboard the Viking Islay, which was operating in the BP Amethyst gas field off the East Yorkshire coast, when the accident happened around 1pm on Sunday.
Vroon Offshore Services, the Aberdeen-based company which owns the Viking Islay, said that the men were securing an anchor chain in the bow of the vessel when the accident occured.
A spokesperson said that the men had all been airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary by an RAF Sea King helicopter but died from their injuries.
The remaining new crew members onboard the vessel were all safe and accounted for.
The Viking Islay is a 53-metre emergency response and rescue vessel which was supporting the Ensco 92 drilling rig on BP's Amethyst field when the accident happened yesterday.
An investigation into the accident is due to be carried out by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

Aircraft Causes Delays At Stansted Airport

Two Killed In Light Aircraft Crash
A pilot and a passenger have died in a light aircraft crash near Wymeswold in Leicester, police have confirmed. Police were called by the ambulance service at 7.55pm last night. Officers are working in conjunction with the Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) to investigate the cause of the crash.

Faulty Cot Caused Child's Death Inquest Finds
A fatal accident inquiry has concluded that a faulty cot was to blame for the death of a six-month-old baby in Fife. In July 2009 Ainslie Smith died when fell into a gap between his mattress and the side slats of his Cosatto Stratford cot. A post-mortem examination revealed Ainslie had been unable to breathe because his airway was obstructed.

First Cork Plane Crash Victims Buried
The funerals of two of the Northern Ireland victims of the Cork air crash are due to be held later today. Pat Cullinan, a 45-year-old senior partner with the international accountancy firm KPMG, is to be buried after requiem mass in St Patrick's Church in the village of Cranagh near Plumbridge in Co Tyrone.
