Sheffield Murder Accused Remanded
An 18-year-old man accused of the murder of 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo in last week has been remanded in custody.
Negus Nelson, of Margate Drive in the city, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
An application for bail was refused and Mr Nelson was remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on October 30.
Jonathan was shot dead in a playground in the Burngreave area of Sheffield on October 17. A post-mortem revealed that he died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Two other men, aged 18 and 26, who were being questioned in connection with the killing, have now been released without charge.
A vigil is to be held for Jonathan in the Burngreave area where he was shot last week.

Men In Court Over Organist's Murder
Two men have appeared in court over the murder of a church organist who was attacked on his way to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Alan Greaves was on his way to St Saviour’s church near High green in Sheffield when he was attacked. The 68-year-old father of four died three days later after suffering severe head injuries.

Third Arrest Over Sheffield Playground Slaying
Police investigating the shooting of 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo in Sheffield last week have arrested a third man. The 26-year-old was arrested at an address in north Derbyshire, South Yorkshire Police confirmed, and is currently being questioned.

Milly Accused Remanded
The man facing trial over the murder of schoolgirl Milly Dowler has been remanded in custody. Levi Bellfield, 41, is accused of kidnapping and murdering the 13-year-old in 2002. Bellfield, a former nightclub doorman, appeared in court this morning to hear the charges against him.
