Second Body At Margate House Of Death
A second body has been discovered at the house in Margate, Kent, where the remains of Scottish teenager Vicky Hamilton were found earlier this week.
Police described the find as a "significant development".
Police had originally been searching the house for missing 18-year-old Dinah McNicol, who disappeared in 1991. The body of 15-year-old Vicky Hamilton was found in the back garden of the house on Monday. Vicky, from West Lothian, disappeared from Bathgate in February 1991. She was last seen waiting for a bus.
Dinah, from Tillingham in Essex, disappeared after hitching a lift following a trip with friends to a music festival in Liphook in Hampshire in August 1991. She was last seen in a car with a man on the M25. Neither the car nor driver has ever been traced.
Scotsman Peter Tobin, 61, appeared before Linlithgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, charged with Vicky's murder. He once lived in the house where the bodies were found. He is due to reappear in court next week.
A post-mortem is being carried out on the second body. Essex Police said that the McNicol family had been informed, but stressed that there was no indication of the identity of the body at this stage.
Police are expected to continue searching the house in Margate for at least another week.
Earlier on Friday, Detective Superintendent Tim Wills, from Essex Police, said: "I do not intend to leave until I'm fully satisfied there are no other human remains."
