Tory MP Arrested For Assault On Own Teenagers

Nigel Waterson, Shadow Work and Pensions Frontbencher has been arrested after an alleged assault on his own children.

The Eastbourne MP first called - and was later arrested by - the Metropolitan Police at an address in Bromley.

Police are now investigating allegations of assault on his own teenage son and daughter.

After spending just under 13 hours in police custody, Mr Waterson was released on Police bail pending further investigations.

The two teenagers did not require any medical attention.

The MP has refused to make any comment to the press regarding the incident.

He was first elected in 1992, is Conservative Spokesman for Older People and is a patron of many local charities including President of the Eastbourne Constitutional Club and Vice President for Age Concern - Eastbourne.

The investigation comes just months after Croydon Central MP Andrew Pelling was suspended from the party after accusations of wife-beating, while David Cameron has withdrawn the whip from senior Tory MP, Derek Conway, who is facing suspension and further investigation over alleged wrongful payments to his two sons for parliamentary work.
