Former Mr Gay UK Charged Over Cannibal Murder
A former 'Mr Gay UK' has been charged with murdering a man whose leg was reported to be chopped up and chunks of it eaten.
Anthony Morley, 35, from Doncaster - who won the Mr Gay UK competition in 1993 aged 20 - appeared in court earlier this week charged with Mr Oldfield's murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before magistrates in Leeds again on Monday, when it is expected the case will be sent to crown court.
On discovering the macabre body of Damian Oldfield, 33, at a terraced house in Harehills, Leeds, police are said to have found part of his right leg carved up, diced and cooked on a kitchen worktop. Tests on the find reportedly show the flesh was human.
A police source has said: "It appears it was being prepared for cooking."
Police now believe some of the flesh was actually eaten.
Police believe Mr Oldfield, an advertising executive for gay lifestyle magazine Bent, was stabbed to death on Wednesday or Thursday of last week.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to Bexley Place in Harehills at 2.30am on Thursday, April 24.
"On arrival officers discovered the body of a 33-year-old man.
"A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder."
Police were not prepared to speculate further on the circumstances surrounding the case.
