Police Investigate Toddler Pond Death
Police are continuing to investigate the tragic death of a three-year-old boy who drowned in a garden pond in Birmingham.
It is reported the toddler was found floating face down and unconscious in the water at the back of a house in Moseley on Saturday.
He was found an hour after he had been reported missing after a frantic search by relatives, friends and police.
It is thought that the toddler had been playing with his cousins when he disappeared.
Emergency services administered CPR at the scene in Anderton Park Road but the youngster failed to regain consciousness.
Police say he was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital, but died shortly before midnight.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "It looks to have been a tragic accident.
"At this stage it is not being treated as suspicious."
It is understood the youngster had been visiting relatives at a house on nearby Coppice Road when he went missing. The boy has not yet been named and a post mortem will take place in due course.
A neighbour of Anderton Park Road, who did not wish to be named said "it's really shocking to hear what's happened," and that "they are a lovely family, really nice neighbours".
