Police Find 'Grave' In Search For Missing Woman
Police investigating the disappearance of an elderly woman have found what they believe to be a grave.
Eighty-seven-year-old Dolina Maclean, of Stanley, was last seen around 5pm on 29 May at her home in Duchess Street, Stanley and later at Tesco on Crieff Road, Perth.
It is reported that her dark green Vauxhall Astra car was found in a car park in Coupar Angus on Saturday.
Ms Maclean is described as 5 ft 5 ins tall with long fair hair and blue/grey eyes.
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said: "Dolina suffers from arthritis and has some mobility problems. She requires a walking stick and occasionally uses a Zimmer Frame."
Police say that Dolina was known to frequent the Stanley and Perth areas, and is particularly know to have frequently visited Airntully at the rear of Stanley, Stanley Mills and surrounding area and the Hermitage. However, it is understood that all these areas have been checked.
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Kerr said that "preliminary examinations of the scene have revealed an area of ground that has been disturbed" and "all indications are that it is a grave site".
Chief Inspector Kerr said that "if and when a body is recovered, it will be removed safely and taken to the mortuary in Dundee, where further forensic and post mortem examination will be undertaken".
Experts in pathology, archaelogy and forensic biology are also helping with the operation.
Family liaison officers are working with Ms Macleans sister, whom she lives with and also relatives in north of Scotland.
The Scotsman has reported that a 48-year-old man from Perthshire has been arrested and charged in connection with inquiries into Ms Maclean's disappearance at the weekend - the charge relates to car theft.
John Lawson, 48, from Perth, appeared at the town's Sheriff Court yesterday charged with stealing Dolina's green Vauxhall Astra.
Lawson, who was held after the car was seen in Coupar Angus, Perthshire, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

MPA 'very concerned' at firearms officers' protest
The Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) has said that it is "very concerned" over a police protest which has seen more than 120 firearms officers refused to carry out their duties. The officers are refusing to carry their weapons in solidarity with two firearms officers who were suspended over a shooting incident in 1999.
