Man Charged With Woodland Death
A man has been charged with the murder of an 87-year-old woman whose body was discovered in woodland.
Dolina Maclean, of Stanley, was last seen at her home in Duchess Street, Stanley and later at Tesco on Crieff Road, Perth on 29 May.
The grim discovery was made after a search by police and scientific experts at Knowehead Woodland, near Dunning.
Miss Maclean, a retired mental health nurse, was reported missing by her older sister, who had been in hospital since her disappearance.
A statement by Tayside Police said: "A 48-year-old man from the Perthshire area has today been charged in connection with her death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
It is expected that the man will appear at Perth Sheriff Court on June 23.
Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Kerr said: "Today's formal identification confirms what we had all feared and my heartfelt sympathies go out to Dolina's sister and her extended family."
The Scotsman has reported earlier this week that a 48-year-old man from Perthshire has been arrested and charged in connection with inquiries into Ms Maclean's disappearance at the weekend - on charge relating to car theft.
The man was charged with stealing Dolina's green Vauxhall Astra.
after the car was seen in Coupar Angus, Perthshire.
Police have also appealed for anyone who saw Miss Maclean's car with the registration number SP52 NYM to come forward.
