Body Find May Be Missing Care Worker
A body recovered from the River Tees may be that of a care worker who vanished in January. It is reported that an angler found the body in a stretch of the River Tees, between Darlington and Croft, North Yorkshire, at 2.30pm yesterday. Inspector Steve Ball, from Darlington Police said that the body may have moved downstream and "came to rest in a shallow part of the Tees". He said the body had been in the river "for some time". Police are keeping an open mind but are not treating the death as suspicious. Michael Hunter, 53, who was employed by Darlington Memorial Hospital, has not been seen since 24 January. It is understood he had failed to attend his mother's funeral which raised alarm. It is reported he was last seen wearing a green Berghaus jacket and carrying a racksack. A police spokesman says that no formal identification has been made but his family have been informed. It is reported that Mr Hunter was seen at Bollihope Common in Weardale and Low Force in Teesdale.
