'Life-Threatening' Burns In Live Railway Accident
A cyclist has suffered "life-threatening" injuries after crashing onto a live railway track after riding down a flight of stairs. The incident happened at the platform at St Leonards Warrior Square Station in Hastings, East Sussex at 8.50am. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly the incident and he was rushed to hospital. The man, believed to be in his 40s, is being treated at the Conquest Hospital, in St Leonards. British Transport Police (BTP) said that several members of staff and members of the public witnessed the incident. A BTP spokesman said: "BTP are investigating an incident at St Leonards Warrior Square this morning after a male riding a bike ended up on the tracks and landed on the live rail. The male suffered life-threatening burn injuries as a result of the incident," he said.
Scottish Woman Admits Assaulting Toddler
A Scottish woman has appeared in court in connection with allegations about breaking a toddler's arm. Samantha Pace, from Muirhouse, pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy between 1 and 13 September last year in a house in Magdalene Medway in Edinburgh. Pace admitted force feeding him, throwing a blanket over his face and repeatedly slapping him on the head and body at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. Pace also admitted pulling and dragging the boy, who was 21 months at the time, by the ear, squeezing his face and throwing him in his cot. The sentence has been deferred for reports and Pace have been given bail.

British Transport Police Investigate Train Vandalism
British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for witnesses after a train hit a shopping trolley which had been thrown onto the railway line in Nottinghamshire. The incident happened close to a bridge near the Elmton and Cresswell signal box at 2.10pm on 22 August. The train, which was a freight liner, ran over the trolley.

MoJ Reveal Drone Used In Prison Smuggle Attempt
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed that a drone was used to try and smuggle a package into the grounds of HMP Bedford. An MoJ spokesperson said that the aircraft was "quickly intercepted by vigilant staff" on 06 March.

Stabbed Salford Burglar Was On Bail
It has been confirmed that a burglar stabbed to death during a break-in at a Salford house, was on police bail following a separate suspected burglary. Earlier this month, John Leonard Bennell, 27, from Hyde, was arrested by police.

Man Still Questioned Over Heathrow Alert
Police are continuing to question a man who sparked a major security alert at Heathrow airport on Thursday by running onto a runway. The man was arrested as he ran onto the north runway, carrying a rucksack around 2:30pm on Thursday. Armed police detained him and a controlled explosion was carried out on his bag. However, no explosives were found.

Teenager questioned over fatal stabbing
A teenager is being questioned in connection with the stabbing of a 16-year-old Tyneside boy. Police are investigating the murder of Mark Smith, 16, from St John's Walk, Newcastle, who was stabbed and later died in hospital.
