Boy Dies After Buggy Crash
A 12-year-old boy has died after crashing an off-road 4x4 buggy-type vehicle in Wiltshire. Police were called to the scene on the outskirts of Corsham, however, no further details have been released. The boy had been driving the vehicle in private woodland.
Radiation Fears For Bay In Fife
A survey is underway in fife to find the latest extent of radioactive contamination, following previous monitoring. Dalgety Bay, Fife had been monitored over a number of years, which found dozens of hotspots, believed to be the result of luminous dials from wartime craft. It was thought radioactive radium in the dials had been incinerated and used when the foreshore was reclaimed. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is to assess the chances of encountering a radioactive particle.
Computer Data Lost By Police Force
A spokeswoman for the UK's second-largest police force has revealed a computer memory stick has been lost. West Midlands Police refused to comment on the nature of the data, but revealed the Home Secretary has been informed. A police spokeswoman said: "We are conducting searches in an attempt to recover the lost item."
Consultation On Waste Pilots
The Government is seeking further views on draft guidance for local authorities wishing to pilot schemes to cut household waste through financial incentives. Defra consulted informally on six pieces of guidance in June this year, covering application and designation, technical issues, finance, coverage and disadvantaged groups, fly tipping prevention, and recycling service. Further formal consultation is now taking place on the recycling service guidance.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Riot Police Deployed As G8 Protesters Occupy Former Police Station
Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
