Two Questioned Over Hunt Aircraft Death
Two people are being questioned by police on suspicion of murdering a keen hunt supporter who died when he was hit by a light aircraft.
Trevor Morse, 48, from Alderminster, Warwickshire, died after being struck by the gyrocopter at Long Marsden airfield near Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, as he followed a hunt.
Two people, said to be hunt saboteurs, were arrested by police after the incident, which took place at around 3pm on Monday.
The two men were being quizzed by police in Leamington Spa, and remained in police custody this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a collision involving an aircraft and a pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokeswoman said no-one else was injured in the incident.
Det Ch Insp Adrian McGee, of Warwickshire Police, said: "I can confirm that we are dealing with an incident at Long Marston airfield involving a gyrocopter and that, sadly, a man has died as a result of the incident.
"It is far too early to tell what has occurred at the airfield at this stage.
"We will be conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances to establish exactly what happened here."
Hunt master Sam Butler paid tribute to the victim, and said a gyrocopter had been following the Warwickshire hunt and others in the last few weeks.
Mr Butler said: "It is a tragic but fatal accident, our first and foremost thoughts are with Trevor's family and we must wait for the facts and the truth ourselves.
"He was a very great supporter, a passionate believer in country sports and hunting and the tribute I pay is not only to him but to his family."
The Health and Safety Executive and the Air Accident Investigation Branch have both been informed.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it had received a complaint about the gyrocopter 10 days ago.
A spokesman said: "The CAA can confirm that it has received a complaint regarding the operation of the gyrocopter involved in yesterday's incident.
"We can confirm that the complaint was received 10 days ago and an investigation had commenced prior to yesterday's incident.
"The CAA is investigating that complaint in conjunction with the police."

A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

Experts Sent In To Oversee Hospital Reforms
The government have announced special measures are being taken against 11 hospitals over "major failings". The hospitals were among 14 investigated over high death rates, with health secretary Jeremy Hunt saying that the 11 highlightes had "problems so entrenched that tough action was needed.
