Teen Dies After Being Shot By Ail Rifle
A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot with an air rifle during target practice in the garden of his house in Hayes, Greater London. He has been formally identified as Sam Shaw. Police and an air ambulance were called at 4.20pm on Saturday and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. A police spokesman said: "We will be preparing a report for the coroner but we are treating this as a family tragedy. No arrests have been made." He said the boy was apparently practicing rifle shooting with two friends in the garden of his home in the Pinkwell area of Hayes when the accident happened. "A post mortem examination will be held at Uxbridge Mortuary," the spokesman added.
Scottish Footballer Charged Over Assault
A Scottish Premier League footballer has been charged over an alleged assault on Hearts striker Calum Elliot. Hibernian defender Darren McCormack was arrestd in the early hours of Sunday morning, after the incident near the Why Not nightclub on George Street in Edinburgh city centre. A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "A 20-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault in George Street. He was released to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date." A Hearts spokesman said: "We can confirm that one of our players has reported an incident to the club that took place on Sunday morning in Edinburgh. The club has no further comment to make at this stage."
Woman Dies In Farm Collision
A woman has died following a collision with a vehicle on a farm, according to police. It incident happened on land near Ffostrasol, Llandysul, Ceredigion, on Saturday, Dyfed-Powys Police said. Officers said the woman, who lived at the farm, had suffered fatal injuries in a collision with an agricultural vehicle. Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating. The coroner has been informed.
Two Arrested Over Teen Murder
Two men arrested in West Sussex have been charged in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old man in London. Abdulkarim Boudiaf, 18, who was of Algerian origin, was shot dead near Broadwater Road, Tottenham on 14 March. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest. Asher Vance, 20, from Tottenham, is charged with murder, and Jack Jackson, 18, also from Tottenham, is accused of assisting an offender. Both will appear before Highgate magistrates on Monday.
New Chair For Civil Nuclear Police
Energy Minister Mike O'Brien today announced the appointment of Sir Chris Fox as the new Chair of the Civil Nuclear Police Authority (CNPA). Mr O'Brien said: "Sir Chris combines a strong background in policing at the most senior level with strategic management skills and I welcome him as Chair of the Authority. His experience as a distinguished public servant will be invaluable to this important role."

Teenager remanded over sister's death
A 14-year-old girl from West Yorkshire has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of her 16-year-old sister. The teenager appeared before Bradford Magistrates' Court on Thursday. She has been remanded into the care of the local authority and is due to appear before Calderdale Youth Court in Halifax on April 4.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Riot Police Deployed As G8 Protesters Occupy Former Police Station
Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
