Afghan Immigrant Sneaks Into Sandhurst
An illegal immigrant from Afghanistan managed to get inside the gates of Sandhurst after hiding on the stairs next to a coach toilet.
It is believed he got on to the coach as it travelled from a German Army base to Britain.
He travelled among a group of officers who did not notice him until the coach arrived at the academy.
An MoD spokesperson confirmed to The Sun newspaper that an individual was discovered onboard a coach, and security officers in all army establishments have been informed and reminded of security procedures.
General Sir Antony Walker, former Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, said: "All vehicles entering the academy should be searched. There are enough armed soldiers and uniformed MoD personnel on the gate to do this. Fortunately there was no ghastly outcome of the security breach this time. But one day there could be."
The man was arrested and has been handed over to officials from the UK Border Agency.
