Supermarket Worker Admits Stabbing Colleague
A supermarket worker has admitted murdering a fellow nightshift worker at a Sainsbury's store in Aberdeen. Robert McCulloch, 35, stabbed his colleague Roman Romasov to death following a series of arguments. Mr Romasov died at the Sainsbury's store on Berryden Road in April. The 28-year-old was a Lithuanian national who lived in Aberdeen. Sentence was deferred at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Bail Granted Over Teen Rape
Two people who were arrested over the rape of a 14-year-old girl at a West Yorkshire beauty spot have been released on bail. The teenager was walking her dog on Sunday when she was assaulted by two males in Middleton Woods, Ilkley. Police said the men were believed to have followed the girl into the woods before attacking her. A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man, both from Bradford, were arrested on Wednesday night. They have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Police Investigate Motorist Who 'Grabbed' Teen
Police are investigating claims a male motorist tried to grab a teenage girl into his car in Lockerbie. The 13-year-old girl had been walking in Dryfe Road at 8.00pm when the blue Citroen Saxo pulled up alongside her. The driver then asked her to get in and when she refused, the middle aged man attempted to grab her. The teen managed to escape and ran home, where she told her mother what had happened. The suspect was described as being in his 50s, with dark brown gelled or greasy hair with a bit of grey on top, a fat face, bare tanned arms and a mole or birth mark on his left cheek, close to his eye. He had a Scottish accent which may have been from Dumfries or Glasgow.
Appeal After Sex Assault
Dyfed-Powys Police say they are searching for two men who carried out a sexual assault on a woman in Brecon, Powys. The incident happened sometime between 10.30pm on Wednesday and 2.00am on Thursday morning on a canal tow path at Brynich Lock, Groesffordd. Detectives say the 47-year-old woman was walking alone when she was approached by two men and assaulted. An incident room has been set up and an appeal made for witnesses. Detective Inspector Martin Tavener said: "I would like anyone who used the canal path during the hours of darkness on Wednesday night into Thursday morning to contact the police."
Witness Appeal After Road Crash
Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision which occurred on St Johns Road in Huddersfield at around 10:15am on Wednesday 17 June 2009. A black Peugeot 206 was seen to be driven erratically and collide with a kerb. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene. Anyone with any information about the incident or the movements of the vehicle prior to the collision is asked to contact (01484) 436664.
Man Dies In Flats Fire
A man has died following a blaze at a tower block in Birmingham. Emergency crews went to Clydesdale Tower, near the A38 running through the city centre, on Friday morning. The man was pronounced dead in hospital and the coroner has been informed. West Midlands Police said it was not being treated as suspicious at this stage. Holloway Head going inbound and outbound was closed for about an hour, but the flats did not need to be evacuated, police said.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody

Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Man Arrested In Toddler Death Probe
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a three-year-old girl. The toddler was brought to hospital on Friday but died in the early hours of Saturday morning. A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man from Beck Road, Shiregreen, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and inquiries are continuing.

Two 14-Year-Old Boys Charged With Manslaughter
Two 14-year-old boys have been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 41-year-old father-of-two in Leicester. Ponnuthurai Nimalaraja, known as Nimal, was assaulted at the junction of Gypsy Lane and Northfield Road shortly after 23:00 on 9 June. Mr Nimalaraja died in hospital on 16 June, one week after being attacked.

PC Jailed Over Schoolgirl's Crash Death
A police officer who caused the death of a teenage girl by dangerous driving, has been jailed for three years. Hayley Adamson, 16, was killed when she stepped out into the path of PC John Dougal's car in Newcastle's Denton Road on 19 May last year. Dougal was chasing a suspect car at the time, but did not have his siren or blue lights switched on.
