Teenager 'Traumatised' After Sexual Assault

Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl after collecting money for cleaning wheelie bins.

At about 2pm on Wednesday 20 May 2009, the girl answered the door of a house on Tennyson Avenue, Bury, to a man who asked her for payment for cleaning her wheelie bins.

He suddenly forced his way into the hallway and pushed the victim to the floor where he sexually assaulted her.

He then ran off, leaving the victim unhurt but traumatised by her ordeal.

The man is described as white, about 6ft tall, in his late teens or early 20s with short, blond shaven hair, of slim build and possibly blue eyes. He had a pale complexion and had a diamond-studded earring in one ear and a tattoo on his inside right forearm. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a plain blue T-shirt and a black coat.

Detective constable Phil Slater of Bury CID said: "This was a horrible attack on a young woman.

"She tells us the man called at the house asking for money for cleaning the wheelie bins. We now want to know who cleans wheelie bins in this area so we can build up a picture of the offender."

Anyone with information is asked to call Bury CID on 0161 856 8185 or independent charity Crimsetoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
