Girlfriend Appeals Over Playing Field Shooting
The pregnant girlfriend of the man shot dead on playing fields in Bromley a week ago has made an impassioned plea for help to trace the masked killer.
Detectives also released images of the killer and the bicycle he used to approach his 36-year-old victim, Ryan Musgrove, who was shoot him three times in front of a fellow footballer and then fled the scene.
At the press conference held on Thursday morning at New Scotland Yard, Kelly McGahan, 28, Ryan's partner, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who knows anything or saw anything to come forward. We don't know why this happened to Ryan.
"He was a family man who loved his football and was passionate about his two children. I am pregnant with our first child and Ryan will never have the chance to see his baby son or daughter.
"There might be something you know that you think is small or insignificant but it may be a massive thing for us. I cannot tell you what this has done to my family and me.
"I am struggling to know what to say.
"This has ruined all our lives. Ryan and I had so many plans together. Please, please call if you know anything."
DCI John McFarlane also said: "Ryan drove to the playing fields and arrived at around 6.35pm on Thursday 16th July to organise football training. He had trained there for the previous four weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
"Ryan parked his silver VW Golf and with a companion walked to the playing fields and met another member of the football team.
"As they were talking a man appeared from a nearby hedge dropping his bicycle to the ground and walked up to the men. He then shot Ryan three times and fled on the bike across the adjacent field in the direction of New Addington.
"The suspect had been seen in the area of Sparrows Den playing fields between 6pm and 7pm on Tuesday 14 July and he was also seen in the vicinity of Coney Hall Football Club, West Wickham, about half a mile away between the same times on Thursday 9 July."
He went on to describe the suspect as a white man and was wearing, goggles, dark clothing and what is believed to be a dust mask over the lower half of his face. He is no older than 30 and is likely to be early to mid 20s. He is 5ft 10 to 6ft 2 tall and is slim with an athletic build.
