Man And Woman Found Dead In Car Boot
Post mortems are due to be carried out after the bodies of a man and woman were found in a car boot in West Yorkshire. A police spokesperson said the bodies were found in the vehicle in Kensington Way in the Belle Isle area of Leeds. A number of people have been arrested in connection with the investigation and are being held at police stations across West Yorkshire. A murder inquiry has been launched.
Police Hunt Three Men After Attack
A man has been seriously injured in a late night assault in Nairn. Police said the attack happened on the town's Mill Road at about 11.30pm on Sunday. Northern Constabulary has been trying to trace three young males and the driver of a silver Ford Focus car seen in the area at the time. A spokesman said: "Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen, spoken to or had any kind of contact with the above males or the driver."
Facilities For World Leading Research Centre
World-class facilities for research into animal health and welfare will be built at Pirbright with new investment from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, it was announced today. The Department has approved the redevelopment of the world leading Institute for Animal Health. The redevelopment will constitute a major investment by government of over £100m to be partially funded from the Large Facilities Capital Fund. Science and Innovation Minister Lord Drayson said: "Pirbright leads the world in studying animal health and welfare, making a major contribution to our understanding of animal diseases and helping to maintain food security. This redevelopment will ensure that Pirbright has the facilities it needs to keep the best scientists and continue to be at the forefront of this vital research.”
Elderly Woman Injured In Collision
An elderly woman suffered serious leg injuries after a collision with a car in Beaumaris on Anglesey. Police were called to the incident in Castle Street at 10.11pm on Saturday. The 71-year-old pedestrian was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor and is being treated for "life changing" injuries. The driver, a 61-year-old local woman, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. She has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Disabled Woman Found Dead In Car
A disabled woman found stabbed to death in her car near her home in Harlow, Essex, has been named. Jennifer Macaree was discovered in Hadley Grange on the outskirts of Harlow early on Saturday. Essex Police confirmed she was in the driver's seat of her black Vauxhall Corsa in a parking area near her flat shortly after 3am.

Laboratory Disease 'Leak' Probed
An animal health facility in Surrey is suspected of being the source of a "probable" new leak of the foot-and-mouth virus. In a written statement, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said the "internal" leak happened at the Merial laboratory at Pirbright.

A woman was killed this morning in an accident involving a London bus while a separate investigation has been launched into the death of a GCSE student who has been knocked down by a police patrol car in Newcastle. The first fatal incident occurred last night as the Northumbria Police marked car was believed to be hunting for a stolen vehicle.

Woman killed in police car chase
A 32-year-old woman has died after being struck by a Jeep which was being chased by police. Two children were also injured in the collision which happened in Sunderland on Thursday evening. Police had been following the Jeep Cherokee, which is understood to have been driving erratically, when they lost sight of the vehicle.

Body Found In Search For Missing Woman
A body has been discovered in Sutton Mill by police investigating the disappearance of Jennifer Hayman. The body was found at 18:00 on Thursday. Formal identification has not yet been made, but police said that Ms Hayman's family have been informed of the find. A post-mortem is due to be carried out to establish the cause of death.
