INLA Calls Halt To Killing
A republican terror group that killed 113 people during the Troubles, including a total of 46 security force personnel is to end its 'armed struggle'.
The Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) splinter group - which sprung from the Official IRA - made the declaration at a commemoration service in Co Wicklow on Sunday.
Irish Republican Socialist Party spokesman Martin McMonagle, told the event: "The Republican Socialist Movement has been informed by the INLA that following a process of serious debate, consultation and analysis, it has concluded that the armed struggle is over.
"The objective of a 32 county socialist republic will be best achieved exclusively through political, peaceful means."
Despite speculation the terror group would be specific in relation to decommissioning, no mention of the destruction of arms was mentioned in the statement.
The largest massacre it inflicted in Northern Ireland was a bomb on a public house in Ballykelly, which killed a total of 17 people in 1982.
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said: "I welcome the announcement by the INLA.
"Given the history of the INLA there will undoubtedly be some scepticism about today's statement.
"However, if it is followed by the actions that are necessary, this is a welcome a development.
"I would appeal to all groups to follow the will of the Irish people. This means pursuing political objectives by purely peaceful and democratic methods," he said.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

Major Drug Bust In Omagh Linked To INLA
Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have made a significant drug seizure in Omagh. Officers searched a van in the Doogary Road area on Thursday morning, 21st November, and recovered a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £750,000.
