Bomb Blast Culprits Slammed
A top republican has condemned the people responsible for a Belfast bomb attack, and said they "offer our community nothing".
The Sinn Féin MLA for North Belfast Gerry Kelly slammed those responsible for another pipe bomb attack in the north of the city last night.
The bomb alert forced a number of families to leave their homes and the Oldpark Road was closed between Rossapena Street and Churchview Court after the discovery of a suspect object.
The alert started at about 7.50pm on Thursday and a nearby parochial hall was made available to the families who had to leave their homes.
The object was examined by army bomb experts and declared a crude hoax.
Speaking last night, he said: "Firstly I want to condemn those responsible for what is without doubt a reckless attack that could have killed or seriously injured someone.
"All it has achieved is to have forced ten families onto the street on a miserable winter's night.
"This is clearly a direct attempt by those involved to disrupt or detract from the current talks, this will not succeed.
"Sinn Féin is committed to moving forward on behalf of all of our people, we are committed to ensuring that politics delivers for our community," he said.
SDLP North Belfast Councillor Nichola Mallon also said there is great anger that the area seems to have been targeted by dissidents and their supporters for disruption.
"This time it was a hoax that left families on the Oldpark Road being turned out of their homes and put up in a parochial hall.
"Threats like these have to be taken seriously given the placing of a pipe bomb a short time before, but people have nothing but contempt for all those involved in both incidents.
" is the ordinary people of the area who are put at risk and those same people want to see those responsible behind bars where they belong," she said, this morning.

West Belfast 'Suspect Object Viable'
There was a security alert in west Belfast today after a suspicious object was discovered in Ardmoulin Place earlier on Tuesday. Army bomb experts were tasked to the scene and a number of homes were evacuated and the police later said the object was a "small viable device" and that is had been removed for further examination.

Viable Pipe Bomb Found In North Belfast
A viable pipe bomb has been found in north Belfast, police have confirmed. Police and army bomb experts discovered the device in the garden of a house in Shore Crescent on Monday. The pipe bomb has been removed for further examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
