International Link To Dublin 'Don' Murder

It has emerged that the Irish police are pursuing a theory that the weekend murder of Eamon 'the Don' Dunne was ordered by an international drug lord.

Reports today suggest that the gang leader Dunne may have upset an overseas trafficker, who regularly imported large drugs shipments here.

Yesterday Gardaí believed the killing may have been an inside job, but due to the professionalism of the 'hit' it is now thought an overseas drug baron would have used a professional team to carry out the shooting.

Notorious drug dealer and gang leader Eamon Dunne was killed on Friday in the Faussagh House in Cabra, north Dublin in a what was described by Gardai as a "professional" gun attack.

During the incident one of the gunmen walked over to Dunne, pushing people out of the way. He began shooting at Dunne from behind, discharging at least six shots from a 9mm automatic pistol. The killing was captured on CCTV inside the pub.

Gardaí are saying that the gunman must have had information on exactly where Dunne had been sitting before they entered the bar where the gang leader was celebrating his 34th birthday.

Officers are continuing their appeal for information in relation to the fatal shooting at the licensed premises in Cabra, Dublin 7, which occurred at approximately 10pm.

Investigating officers are anxious to speak to persons who were inside or outside the premises either before or during the incident, particularly between the hours of 8pm - 10pm.

Yesterday, the getaway car used during the shooting, a red Volkswagen Passat, was found on Carnlough Road in Cabra, close to the scene of the shooting at the Faussagh House pub, after being abandoned by the killers who switched to a second getaway car.
