Printing firm set to close in New Year
A specialist Belfast printing company owned by Ulster Weavers is due to close early in the New Year.
Dunmurry Print, which was bought by Ulster Weavers 17 years ago, blamed the closure on falling demand, both nationally and internationally, for its printed cloth and cheaper offshore production.
Three employees working at the facility will transfer to the company’s Maldon Street plant in Belfast, while a further three workers will possibly transfer to Ulster Weavers’ production unity when the redundancies take place in March.
Ulster Weavers Home Fashions Managing Director, Ian McMorris said the closure of the company was part of a restructuring programme that aimed to keep Ulster Weavers “strong and competitive”. (MB)

Belfast Telegraph print hall damaged by fire
A fire within the main building of the Belfast Telegraph on Royal Avenue in Belfast has put the newspapers printing operation out of action for the first time in 20 years. It is believed that the fire, which occurred on Monday night, was started by a spark from a welders torch that ignited a stack of papers in the press hall.

'Nevin Spence Centre' Planned For Ravenhill
A new education and heritage centre being built at Ulster Rugby's Ravenhill stadium is to be named after the late Nevin Spence, who died in a farming accident along with his brother Graham and father Noel in September last year. The centre is part of a £14.7m redevelopment of the ground and will be called 'The Nevin Spence Centre'.
