Adam's 'Sex Allegations' For Crown Court
The brother of the former West Belfast MP - now a Co Louth TD - and Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has been told he is to stand trial accused of a catalogue of sex offences.
On Monday in Belfast, a judge ruled that Liam Adams must face a total of 18 counts, including rape, gross indecency and indecent assault.
The case relates to the alleged abuse of his daughter Aine Tyrell, who has waived her right to anonymity.
However, Mr Adams, 56, originally from west Belfast, denies all claims being made against him, which were first reported when Ms Tyrell took part in a television documentary in 2009.
In a high profile move, he was extradited to Northern Ireland earlier this month after losing a legal battle to remain in the Republic of Ireland.
Mr Adams appeared for preliminary enquiry proceedings at Belfast Magistrates' Court and will now stand trial after the district judge granted a prosecution application for the case to progress to the next stage.
The accused was returned for trial at the Crown Court on a date to be fixed and remanded back into custody until that hearing gets underway.
