Man Remanded Over North Belfast Attack

A man has been remanded in custody accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent during an attack in north Belfast.

29-year-old Jonathon Rossborough from Newtownabbey is charged with the assault on a man in his 20s at Alliance Parade in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He is also accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to a second man.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and is in a serious but stable condition.

Rossborough is expected to apply for bail at Belfast Magistrates' Court next week.

He will appear via video link on Friday 9 January.

A 31-year-old Ballyclare man has been jailed at Laganside Crown Court for a number of offences including sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and attempting to choke with intent to commit an indictable offence. Colin James was sentenced to four years and six months.

Two Arrested Over Public Disorder In Lurgan
Two people have been arrested in connection with public disorder in Lurgan, Co Armagh, last month. A 30-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of affray and obstruction, and a 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and obstruction. Both men are being questioned at Lurgan police station.

Man Charged With Attacking Pensioner
A man has been charged with attacking a pensioner in Belfast. The incident occurred in Abetta Parade as a 37-year-old man entered the house of a 70-year-old man, attacked him and tied him up. The man has been charged with burglary, false imprisonment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is also charged with stealing the pensioner’s car.
