Homes Evacuated following Bomb Scare

A number of houses have had to be evacuated due to a bomb alert in north Belfast. It follows the report of a suspicious object in a car in the Black Dam Court area. Army bomb disposal experts have been sent to the scene. There are no further details.

Black Box Receives Funding Boost

The Black Box arts venue in Belfast has been given a major boost to its chances of survival. It opened in 2006 to fill a temporary gap in arts provision, and was due to close in April this year. However, Belfast city council has voted to continue paying £25,000 a year to keep it going. The venue's organisers said it had become an important part of the arts scene in Belfast.

71% Of Offenders Have Drug, Drink Issues

More than two-thirds of offenders on probation in Northern Ireland have a problem with drink or drugs, figures have revealed. Of the individuals currently supervised by the Probation Board NI, 71% have a "small", "medium" or "large" offending-related problem in relation to drink and illicit substances. Deputy Director of the probation board Cheryl Lamont said the figures stressed the importance of programmes that address alcohol and drugs issues.

Residents Return To Homes After Security Alert In North Belfast Ends
Residents have returned to their homes following a security alert in north Belfast. A suspicious object was discovered at the junction of North Queen Street and Brougham Street on Tuesday, however it was found to be 'nothing untoward'. Army bomb experts examined the object on Tuesday evening.

Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in north Belfast following a report of a suspicious object in the area. The homes in Clifton Crescent were evacuated after the report of an object in the area on Monday afternoon. An army bomb squad has been tasked to the scene and the area has been closed to traffic.
