Pipe bomb attacks continue in Country Antrim
County Antrim has been the focus of several overnight incidents involving pipe bombs, which saw one Portrush man narrowly escape injury when his house was singled out for attack.
The device was thrown through the window of the house in Glenmanus Park at around midnight on Monday 23 July, but failed to go off. The surrounding area was evacuated and British army bomb expert later made the device safe.
Meanwhile, at around 1.30am, in what is thought to be an unrelated attack, a pipe bomb exploded in a car in Ballymena in the Shetland Park area. The vehicle, an unoccupied Ford Escort, was damaged when the device went off, but there are no reports of any injuries.
The events are the latest in a recent spate of attacks involving pipe bombs. Early on Monday 23 July, a device was thrown at the front of a house in the Derriaghy area in Co Antrim, shattering glass in the front door and causing smoke damage to the hall. However, residents of the house, which included a mentally disabled man, escaped injury.
A pipebomb also exploded at a Catholic home in Kylemore Road on Sunday, and on the same day the window of a Catholic Church in Glennock, Newtownstewart, County Tyrone, was shattered by a similar crude device. (CL)

'Viable Pipe Bomb Type Device' In L'Derry Security Alert
Police have declared a security alert in Londonderry was the result of a "viable pipe bomb type device". The alert began with reports of a "loud bang" outside a house in Bann Drive at about 11.15pm on Tuesday, 17 July. It is understood that a man and woman were in the house at the time of the incident but escaped uninjured.

Flats damaged in overnight pipe bomb attacks
A number of flats have been damaged in overnight pipe bomb attacks in Co Antrim. In the first incident devices were thrown at the front doors of two flats in Rathcoole Drive, Newtownabbey just after 10pm. A short time later another device exploded at a ground floor flat in Carnbrook Drive, Antrim, causing damage to a bedroom.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In L'Derry
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.

Police in L'Derry have arrested three people and seized drugs worth an estimated £600. The arrests were made following a proactive policing operation in the city. On Monday, 18 November, officers observed suspicious behaviour from a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the Strand Road area.
