LINFIELD TORPEDOED BY GEORGIANS
IRISH League champions Linfield have been knocked out of the Champions’ League in the first round, losing 1-0 to Georgian side Torpedo Kutaisi in the second leg of their qualifying match.
The Blues had taken a 0-0 aggregate scoreline from last weeks opening game at Windsor Park and needed only a score draw from this game to go through to the next round.
The home side took the lead in the 69th minute through a wonderfully taken free-kick by midfielder Ashvetia. But it was the visitors who enjoyed a great deal of possession during the first half and deserved to be on level terms at the break.
However, as the second half wore on, the Georgian champions got on top and their superior match fitness showed, with the eventual match winner coming mid-way through the half.
This wasn’t the end of the action however as Torpedo’s Khvadagiana was sent off in the 79th minute. Controversially, Linfield captain Noel Bailie was dismissed just two minutes later for a foul on Ashvetia, with Linfield manager David Jeffrey remonstrating with officials.
Defender ‘Winkie’ Murphy then had a shot cleared off the line in the final minute.
Torpedo Kutaisi will now face FC Copenhagen in the second qualifying round. (MB)

Traffic Warning For South Belfast Ahead Of Northern Ireland Match
Road users are advised to plan for potential traffic delays in the south Belfast area on Friday, 15th November due to the UEFA Nations League football match between Northern Ireland and Belarus. The match will take place at Windsor Park, kicking off at 7.45pm, and it is expected that around 18,000 supporters will attend.

Two-Minute Silence Marks Armistice Day
A two-minute silence has been observed across the UK to mark Armistice Day and commemorate the end of the first world war on this day in 1918. The occasion was marked across NI at 11am to remember servicemen and women who died in battle. Wreath-laying ceremonies have also taken place at war memorials across the province.

12 Men Arrested Over Banner At Celtic v Linfield Match
Twelve men have been arrested over banners displayed at Parkhead during the Celtic v Linfield match last month, Police Scotland have confirmed. UEFA charged the club over an "illicit banner" during the match on 19 July. Celtic are to close the Green Brigade section of their stadium for two games.
