Third Man Charged Over Mackin Murder

A man has been remanded in custody charged in connection with a murder in Belfast city centre.

Christopher Mackin, 31, was fatally shot in Belfast city centre at the beginning of March.

According to a report by UTV James Valliday has been accused of assisting offenders by purchasing petrol to destroy a car used in the plot to kill Christopher Mackin.

The 46-year-old, of Agincourt Avenue, Belfast, was refused bail at the city's Magistrates' Court. He is the third person to be charged over the shooting.

Married couple, Charles Stephen Valliday, 40, and Julie-Ann Valliday, 35, of Powerscourt Place, Belfast were remanded in custody charged with the murder.

A Belfast court heard allegations that the husband and wife worked together to "lure" the victim into a trap.

Police claim that Mrs Valliday enticed Mr Mackin to the scene where he was killed and it is understood that Mrs Valliday had been in contact with Mr Mackin 50 times in the three and a half hours before the murder by text and by phone call.
